My oil painting journey began my senior year of high school when I produced my first canvas. Still-life and representational motifs were the focus of my early body of work. In 2009, I began exploring the abstract world. The alluring dance and hidden stories in such pieces is captivating.
The art world began embracing collage as a form of artistic expression in the 1920s, as artists started using it as a more modern approach to making art. I started painting with paper (as I like to call it), many, many, many decades later to expand my visual language.
The newest tool in my studio, chalk is one of the oldest drawing mediums. Often turned to for quick preliminary sketches, working with chalk is an art form in its own right for finished drawings. My chalk drawings inspire me to tackle subject matters that I otherwise might not explore.
